Zulu Creative’s 3rd Birthday Celebration & TOMS Style Your Sole Party Recap

On Sunday, July 26, 2009, Zulu Creative celebrated its 3rd birthday by hosting a TOMS Style Your Sole party to provide children in need with a new pair of shoes and party goers the experience to be a shoe designer for a day. The wildly creative community event was attended by a diverse mix of 300 guests whose purchases will provide 150 children with a new pair of TOMS shoes.

The party was held at The Spacetaker Artist Resource Center (ARC) in Houston, Texas where Whole Earth Provision Co. set up a pop-up shop of TOMS classic styles and a sneak preview of the 2009 Fall Collection. An art supply bar was generously provided by Sharpie and Jerry’s Artarama. Brad Otts from TOMS Shoes spoke about the company’s “One for One” mission and thanked everyone for their participation.

“Positive vibes surrounded all of us at the party and I’m so proud of how the Houston community came together to support TOMS and their important mission to help children in need” said Tina Zulu, Zulu Creative’s Founder and Chief Creative Officer.

DJ Chicken George kept positivity in the air with an outstanding selection of soulful and uplifting tunes. Aerosol Warfare Gallery’s GONZO247, one of Houston’s most admired urban street artists created custom designs for fans who lined up for this special treat.

Houston businesses showed great generosity by donating an assortment of refreshments including Vietnamese sandwiches by Thiem Hung, sangrias by Boheme, Old New Orleans Rum, a microbrew from Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Vitamin Water, and Trentino Gelato.

Guests left the party smelling as good as they felt on the inside, with LUSH goodie bags filled with handmade bath gels and soaps.
